I am going to start off this month with some exciting news for Wiarton Airport ... as of July 1, 2009, Dan Vachon, owner of Owen Sound Air Services has moved his business from the Owen Sound Airport (CYOS) to Wiarton! Dan will operate his flight school for offshore and local students from his new location at our airport! Welcome Dan!
 On June 27th there was plenty of excitement at the Wiarton Airport (CYVV) as close to 15000 people appeared to take in the "Hip" concert. All in all, it was a very successful event, the audience was well behaved overall and there we no major accidents, despite the presence of approx. 2500 cars, busses, even a stretch limousine or two! a 50-man strong team of OPP officers were present, as well as security personnel from Big Music Fest. A tip of the cap to organizers of the event, which included Dwight Burley and Airport Manager Doug Sykes. Much appreciation to all of the volunteers who helped out on the day of the event - including those from COPA Flight #68.
The final figures are not yet available, but it is hopeful that all involved will realize a major financial reward. It is planned that another concert of this magnitude will happen next year - we will just have to stay tuned for details!

Summer is coming, which means a new school year is just around the corner! Have you (or someone you know) been accepted into a recognized aviation college? Our annual scholarship is awarded to one lucky qualifying student from
Grey or Bruce County. If you have applied in previous years, please do so again! Visit our website or email Jenn or Harold to request an application form!
Applicants must meet qualifications to be eligible for Scholarship. Complete details can be found on our Scholarship page.
